December: 2022
Family and Friends,
We are finally getting this blog and our contact information organized enough to share.
We are still at a stand still in the Raleigh area as we wait out the holidays and continue to tie up loose ends from our relocation. In addition to wanting to stay close for the holidays, the girls wanted to play basketball. So we are here until mid-February. Donnie is coaching, so he and the girls are enjoying this basketball experience together. On the sidelines, I am an enthusiastic spectator and enjoy yelling helpful tips to make sure everyone knows what they should be doing. 🙂
We also have a pretty nice size to-do list that includes a few modifications for our camper. Plus, Joanne (our trusty Ford Expedition) needs to have a checkup before we hit the road to head south.
Donnie has generously volunteered to be the steward of our mail and forward things to us every few weeks as we move to our next spot…or if we decide to stay in one place for a while. So feel free to drop us a line, it will be nice for the girls to have a tangle piece of home, as well as a little of those they love and miss. We are looking forward to sending postcards, as we venture to new places.
We have been mentally preparing for our adventure, as well as physically making ready for our long-term, full-time trip. We have been mapping out activities and places we want to go. If you have any suggestions of places or things we should add to our map, please let us know.
Our goals for each state are: national parks, state parks, museums (of all kinds), state treasures, regional food specialties, farmers markets, historical monuments, geographical interests, farms & gardens, beautiful views, inexpensive (and the occasional indulgent) outings and activities, anything that pertains to horses, and visits with friends and family in other states along the way. We will be balancing this with the girls schooling and the remote job I am currently in the process of obtaining. Another important part of our plan is we are not traveling everyday. We plan on taking rest days to nap and regroup. The plan is to park our camper in a central location, and then drive to neighboring towns and destinations, returning home each night to our camper cat and our cozy beds.
In addition to my take on things, Ada and Maggie are making plans on how they want to share their experiences and perspectives. Meanwhile, I’m trying to work out how to document and share while still being present in the moment.

PS. Through our journey as a family, minus Dad and Henry (our dog), we are going to have an exquisite time in our temporary home. Despite my eagerness to have a real house (forever home), I am also ecstatic for our adventure cross-country. We will enjoy our time a-travlin’ and spending quality time with each other.
XoXo, Ada Just
PPS. Ada thought of the title of this post 🥰
